Jacobo:
I have bot been able to go to the meetings because most of them are falling the week I have to travel to Atlanta.
Miss you guys and the meetings.
Is this a case of casseous calcification within the mitral valve
Is there a non contrast image /calcium score? which would show increased density that appears homogeneous to enhanced blood pool in post contrast images?. Hope to see you very soon
Common lesion in infants (<6mo), rare in adulthood ~35 cases
Etiology controversial – insult from inflammation, anoxia, trauma, coagulopathy → hematoma
Imaging: cystic mass / lesion on the valve leaflet or papillary muscle, typically fills with contrast or agitated saline
Long-term follow-up is lacking
May remove if associated with valvular dysfunction
