The SouthEast Florida Cardiac Imaging interest group (SEFCI) came into being in 2012 as a result of discussions about improving communication and collaboration among the cardiac imagers in South Florida. Cardiac CT and MRI are relatively new additions to radiology, certainly to routine practice, and there are several excellent cardiac imagers in South Florida, spread out over multiple institutions.
The goal of SEFCI is to create a means of communication via the website and email, as well as to foster opportunities to meet in person, whether at semi-annual dinners to discuss cases, at national meetings, or during day-to-day practice. Our members have collaborated on several patients to help provide the highest quality care, and our hope is that there will be even more collaboration or research projects, educational initiatives, and the training of future cardiac imagers.
Our inaugural meeting was held June 20th, 2012, and included physicians from Cleveland Clinic Florida, Baptist Health System, the University of Miami, Mt. Sinai Medical Center, and Miami Children’s Hospital. We look forward to lively discussion of interesting cases, research developments in cardiac imaging, technological advancements in CT and MRI scanners and protocols, and troubleshooting difficult cases from daily clinical work.
